--- title: 'Christmas Eve in Prague' date: '2010-12-25T00:39:17-05:00' permalink: /christmas-eve-in-prague/ tags: - travel --- The Christmas market in Old Town Square has a smallish stage set up at one end; this stage is used throughout the Christmas season for performances of various kinds. Four years ago, when R. and I spent our first Christmas in Prague, we caught [a dance recital](/decalage-horaire/), among other such performances; this year, we happened upon a [mobile carillon](/among-the-things-we-saw-last-night/) being played. But as four years ago, [the most magical moment in the square came Christmas Eve](/merry-christmas-from-prague/), during the performance of soloists from the Czech national opera. I’ve posted a couple of brief clips from the performance ([one](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IePwDI75xX4) and [two](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KDdk3z0dcA)), but this one is the moment that caught my breath: when the conductor turned to include the audience in the final song. It’s difficult to tell from the audio here, but everyone around me is singing. Everyone. Merry Christmas, all.
