According to the wire services, the Supreme Court has issued a [split decision](http://www.nytimes.com/2003/06/23/politics/23WIRE-COURT.html?adxnnl=1&adxnnlx=1056385412-PKuV7eix3z5teuEIAbgn8Q "NY Times; subscription and annoying ad-viewing required") in the University of Michigan affirmative action cases, siding with the law school on the constitutionality of its diversity policy, but declaring the undergraduate school’s admissions policy to be unconstitutional.
